Be Part of our Growth and Future

To:  All Members of the IMA United Kingdom Chapter

From:  Jeff Thomson, CMA, IMA President and CEO

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to send you a brief message of appreciation for being an IMA member and encouraging you to participate in the UK Chapter, IMA’s latest international chapter chartered just this past January.  I am glad many of you had an opportunity to meet with Alex Eng, who will become IMA’s Global Chairman of the Board effective July 1, at the UK Chapter kick-off event.  You are led by a very capable slate of smart, dedicated and inspiring business leaders and volunteers, starting with Chapter President Fatema El-Wakeel, CMA and her board consisting of Pauline Gilbert, Chris Allen, Diya Elshafie, Ahmad Alajdad  and Akram Ayyubi.  I especially wish to thank them for their service to IMA and our great profession.  I admire the board’s commitment to “start strong, stay strong, and finish strong” in serving members and the public interest.

IMA continues to grow with confidence and integrity around the world.  We may be smaller than others in raw numbers, but with members and CMAs in more than 100 countries, we are large and growing in influence and respect.  And, we are not that small in the numbers as evidenced by our double-digit growth in the CMA program for nearly a decade, the association crossing 90,000 global members, and, we are the 22nd largest association in IFAC (International Federation of Accountants, with approximately 175 member bodies).  The CMA program is the leading management accounting association in the world, as evidenced by our growth, reputation, rigor and consistency.  Please help me tell the story of CMA relevance and influence, especially as we head into a digital age demanding more analysis, foresight and insight from the CFO team in industry.

Looking ahead, we are excited about IMA’s prospects to enable ethically sound business professionals and sustained organizational growth.  While I am confident that IMA will continue to make a difference due to a sound business strategy, I truly believe that IMA’s greatest competitive asset is its dedicated volunteers around the world in more than 300 student and professional chapters.

Thanks.

 Jeff
