September 2018 Newsletter

September - what a month to be in Management Accounting!

10th - We launched our Global Ad Campaign to Help Management Accountants Seize the Opportunities in a Digital Age. A continuation of the "You've Got to Earn It" campaign from 2017, the advertisements emphasize how accounting and finance professionals who earn the CMA are better positioned to thrive in the digital age. Watch the full TV spot.

21st - Britain's shadow chancellor John McDonnell gained wide reporting when he told The Financial Times that The "big four" accounting firms could be broken up under plans by UK's Labour Party to overhaul the auditing industry

21st - Dansk Bank were all over the media on their high profile compliance failure. You might want to read this Guardian article ahead of our Ethics discussion in October - which is sure to be lively. The story includes ethics, compliance, whistle-blowing, audit challenge and board-level resignations

25th - Our own Raef Lawson, Vice President-Research & Policy, Professor-in-Residence, Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) published on The Perils of Poor Accounting Information in EBN online. Particularly worth a read if you are involved in the supply chain.

26th - Read this great article by Michael Cohn in Accounting Today on Diversity in Finance and what we are doing about it. Remember earlier this year we appointed our first director of diversity and inclusion Linda Devonish-Mills

26th - Interest rates are finally on the rise again - now you can apply all that knowledge you have on the present and future value of money, as we move out of the confusion of zero or even threatened negative rates.

October: Next month we take great pleasure inviting you to join next IMA UK Chapter Annual Meeting: Focus on Ethics
